Hooky is ready to take the stage again and plans to perform the ten tracks from “Unknown Treasures”, the Manchester-based band’s fantastic premier album.
If you’re too young to remember then “Unknown Treasures” was released during summer 1979, so it’s quite apt that Peter is returning to the stage at one of the best summer festivals in Europe. The album is considered one of the most important in driving the growth and development of popular rock music over the past 30 years, it is often cited as pivotal to the success of contemporary bands like The Smiths, The Cure or New Order.
Joy Division had a sad demise following the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis.. Not one to be perturbed, Peter Hook, set up New Order together with Bernard Summer. 31 years later Hook is braving the stage to bring their debut album back to life.

Although having said that, I am still looking forward to it LOADS…..but mainly because am seeing it as a summer holiday with the added bonus of a festival attached; think the people that are there purely for the tunes need at least ten additional bands that people have actually heard of – otherwise it’s just not worth the money and the atmosphere will suffer dreadfully.
Cat says
Really dreadful – see the efestivals forum for people’s views (pretty much exclusively negative). People are also now trying to sell their tickets on the main FB Beni page, so looks like announcing 15 or so completely obscure and almost entirely unknown acts was a bad PR move. From a promo perpective, would’ve been better to have stayed silent and let people assume there were big names still to be announced, and let them risk buying tickets on that basis. This announcement is, frankly, a bit of an embarrassment. As one person on efestivals put it, ‘if this was announced as the line-up for a free gig in the park down the road from my house I probably wouldn’t bother to go’. If the organisers were hoping this’d shift tickets, they were sorely mistaken – in fact, it’s gone entirely the other way!!
